Many cryptocurrencies observers were anxiously awaiting how the GBTC discount would react to news of BlackRock, the world’s largest ETF issuer and a mainstay in the mainstream financial world, attempting to register a spot BTC ETF with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Several investment managers, including WisdomTree, VanEck, Ark Investment Management and 21Shares, have tried to register such a product over the past two years, but the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has so far rejected all applications.
